Xerokambos Gorge
A small but impressive gorge 1 Km far from the Xerokambos settlement and beaches.
Xerokambos gorge is located at a deserted and rocky area between Ano Zakros and the touristic region of Xerokambos. Its entrance is located 500m far from the Katsounaki beach, the most northern beach in Xerokambos area and 1 km northern from the village.
On your way from Zakros to Xerokambos on your left you can see the shape of the gorge. Its total length is not more than 2-3 kms.
The gorge is easily accessed at its first kilometer. Then it is divided into two parts. Its left part stops in 500 meters, but its right one is to be accessed for almost 1.5 kms more. This part is difficult in its cross, because there is no clear-sighted path and there are a lot of rocks and bushes which hinder the access. The gorge ends very close in the middle of the way from Zakros to Xerokambos.
The beaches of Xerokambos are considered as some of the most beautiful and pristine beaches of Eastern Crete.
