Kelaria
Kelaria is a small mountain village in the east of Sitia region, 30 kilometres from coastal Sitia and just 5 km before the village of Zakros.
The scenery is typical of the mountainous east of Lassithi Prefecture, with not very high mountains but impressive gorges. The area is very beautiful with lots of pretty villages on the way from Palekastro to Zakros, situated in a green valley with many olive trees and surrounded by mountains. The village of Kelaria is small and inhabited by some 10 mostly older people that are farmers. Today the village is divided into two parts. The first one is around the central road and it is the inhabitable part.
The other part is up the hill, which is picturesque, but isolated, full of old ruins.
