At the highest place of the village, next to the old school (which is not active any more) in a wonderfully kept building logdes the folklore museum of Pefki.
It is consisted of 3 main rooms and you see a lot of things, that don't exist at the other two richer folklore museums of the area (of Palekastro and of Hamezi). You will find the loom in an excellent condition and some other utensils and tools, as the ones used for the making of the wax light.
Mrs. Ourania will answer to any question you may have and her hospitality and care will make you feel pleasurably and for sure you will learn a lot of things that you didn' t know before, e.g. for a large piece of white cloth used for the olive collection. It was sewn threefold and laid under the tree. At the end of the olive collection' s period they were washed very well to become white again (photo).
Coming out of the museum you enjoy the unlimited view to the east. At the south you can see the entrance of Pefki Gorge. In front of you the village lies amphitheatrically on the side of the hill.
If you pass along the village, it is worth to visit the folklore museum.
